Treatment of cancer in pets has expanded to give you and your pet more choices than ever available previously. We treat a number of patients with all types of cancer here at the Animal Medical Centre. To reach a diagnosis proper tests must be run to determine the type of cancer.
Many cancers are surgically controlled. Others require chemotherapy treatment and monitoring. We also use cryosurgery for certain types of tumors. We use oncology specialists in many cases for consultation. Radiation treatment is available at North Carolina University School of Veterinary Medicine. Hyperthermia treatments are also used with certain types of cancers. A special center is available to treat cats with hyperthyroidism related conditions.
