Health Maintenance
Preventative Care is the single most important item in the care of your pet.
Besides a thorough physical examination, a fecal check for internal parasites and (for dogs) a blood test for heartworms, all dogs and cats should receive vaccinations customized to their lifestyle and disease risk. We recommend vaccination of dogs against distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, parvovirus, rabies and tracheobronchitis.
Cats require protection against rhinotracheitis, calicvirus, panleukopania, chlamydia and rabies. For outdoor cats and cats with high risk, we also recommend protection against Feline Leukemia, Feline Infectious Peritonitis and Feline Aids.
No vaccination procedure, even in humans, is 100% successful or permanent. To ensure maintenance of immunity, booster vaccines should be given at appropriate intervals after the initial series.
